Is Joe Kinnear Racist?

So the Newcastle manager Joe Kinnear mispronounces a players name and when the affected player says he will not play for the manager anymore, every one believes that this is not a big deal. Why should the black man feel aggrieved that his name was mispronounced?

Now Charles N’zogbia has been aiming to get out of the dysfunctional Newcastle for ages, so his threat not to play for his team and employer unless Joe Kinnear is sacked is a bit of silly business. However the manager should at least learn to call him Charles or Charlie but calling him “Insomnia” was just plain wrong.

I became quite angry when on Sky News this morning, the sports news reader, Charlie Thomas tried to excuse Joe Kinnear’s inability to pronounce his players name as a problem of “men of a certain age” which is a euphemism for “racist old fart who can’t be bothered to learn the name of a foreign black player”. This was the same defence that was accorded Ron Atkinson when he slipped up on air and called Desailly the N-word.

Will N’zogbia be bought by Arsene Wenger after this silly business? I doubt it seriously and I don’t believe that Aston Villa will buy him too. So eventually I think he might eat crow and play for his amnesiac suffering racist manager.

LAST NIGHT'S GAME - JAN 28

EVERTON 1 ARSENAL 1
The bet for Arsenal to win the league this year has been stretched out to 66/1, which is quite generous. They are now 5 points behind Aston Villa and I don’t see them overtaking them any time this season. Everton scored through live wire Tim Cahill but couldn’t hold on for the deserved win. Robin Van Persie, Arsenal only worthy striker of recent scored in the 90th minute to let Arsene Wenger continue his character building pledge in his post-match interviews.

WIGAN 1 LIVERPOOL 1
So since Rafa Benitez went off script and attacked Fergie he has drawn 3 out of 4 games and toppled from 1st to 3rd in the league table. I defended his attack but I will like to tell Rafa to keep any future attempts at mind games to his kitchen table and find a way to win games if he wants to justify his constant whining at his board or club owners. This is year 19 of Liverpool’s championship drought; it will definitely extend into 20 at this rate. Yossi Benayoun scored the Liverpool goal and loan star Mido scored from the spot for Wigan.

BLACKBURN 2 BOLTON 2
Sam “I can be England manager” Allardyce is yet to lose a game as Blackburn manager but his team is still deeply involved in a relegation battle. They were thoroughly outplayed for major parts of the game but eventually scored 2 late goals last night to salvage a point at home, AGAIN. Do we blame Roque Santa Cruz who hasn’t scored since he became worth £30m according to Big Sam in his bid to thwart Man city’s quest for world domination. Matty Taylor and Kevin Davies scored early in the game and Stephen Warnock and Benni McCarthy scored late.

MANCHESTER CITY 2 NEWCASTLE 1
Man City had to shell out £14m for Craig Bellamy and he has started to repay that outrageous price by scoring in their victory over Newcastle last night. Newcastle will be without two players for the best part of 8-10 weeks and I believe they should even have them in their side in the first place. Thug Joey Barton who should have been sacked a long time ago is injured and left the game in the second half. Selfish and ungrateful Michael Owen tore ankle ligaments and you wonder why this man still feels he won’t sign a new contract but hold on for a better deal from another team. Their opponents last night might be the sucker but I believe that Newcastle should cut their losses and show him the door now.
Shaun Wright Phillips and Craig Bellamy scored for Man City and youngster Andrew Carroll scored for Newcastle.

CHELSEA 2 MIDDLESBOROUGH 0
Chelsea won a game they normally should. Middlesbrough continue to keep faith and drop like a stone as expected. They are now up to second and hopefully pile pressure on Man Utd to keep the Mancs from being crowned champs in March.
Solomon Kalou scored twice for Chelsea. Has anyone seen Didier Drogba?

WEST HAM 2 HULL 0
The first half of the league was Hull’s coming out party. They came to the capital and beat Arsenal and Tottenham in one week and Phil Brown was lauded as the next one. Since then they have crashed back down to earth and are lucky to have accumulated the 27 points they have been stuck on for some weeks now.
West Ham are learning something from their little genius manager and he seems to be getting some of his players to believe in the little ability they have. Carlton Cole is becoming a monster.

LAST NIGHTS GAME - 27 JAN

LAST NIGHT’S GAMES – 27 jan

WBA 0 MAN UTD 5

Man U were imperious and scored five with ease. Berbatov, Tevez, Vidic and Ronaldo (2) were the scorers. They also set some defensive record of keeping 11 clean sheets which could have been quite impressive except that they have only played one or two of the big boys in that run – Chelsea at home.

Will MAN UTD win the league? I believe so. Liverpool are not up to the struggle with their over dependence on one player and their unstable manager.

PORTSMOUTH 0 ASTON VILLA 1

Nine away wins in the league can’t be just luck. Aston Villa have played well and continue to be a big bet for the champions league next year. Emile Heskey’s head and spin for the only goal was a beauty. Of course, he might not score again this season but his manger knew that already.

Portsmouth and Tony Adams are dropping very fast. Can they drop out of the league altogether? Why not, if they continue to play like they normally do.

TOTTENHAM 3 STOKE 1

The Jekyll and Hyde Tottenham is the main reason I don’t bet on football games. Aaron Lennon, Jermaine Defoe and Michael Dawson were the scorers for Spurs and James Beattie scored the Stoke goal.

Harry Redknapp must be feeling lucky today again. Stoke are a good side punching above their weight and it shows.

SUNDERLAND 1 FULHAM 0

Fulham haven’t won a game on their travel all season and by the evidence of this game it’s a situation that won’t be changing soon. Kenwyne Jones scored the only goal of this goal and it still was a drab affair

TONIGHTS GAMES

After the inconvenience of the FA cup, the premier league resumes tonight with four games which will help form a better picture of who drops out of the league and who wins it.

Sunderland vs Fulham

This is a difficult game to predict the result and a more difficult game to watch. We predict a very sad draw.

West Bromwich Albion vs Mancester Utd

West Brom is bottom of the league against the league leaders and champions. It will be a game where WBA show their organisation in defence and midfield and barely travel the distance to worry whoever is in the goal at the other end. Man Utd have been ht by injuries, I can’t hazard a guess who will be in the team but they are still the standard bearers. Who will win? Do I need to say Man utd.

Tottenham vs Stoke City

Tottenham need to win, Stoke need to win too. The problem is that Stoke is always hungrier than most teams and Tottenham barely raise their game for anyone outside the top 4. With the lack of confidence through the team only the hunger of Jermain Defoe can make a difference in this game.

Portsmouth vs Aston Villa

Portsmouth is a poor team. I have no idea what Tony Adams does as a coach. Aston Villa have speed, skill and a young team ready to do what the manager asks them to do. Martin O’Neill might be over rated but he is having a good time and should win this again. But if I am wrong, then it will be because of some calamity like two own goals or something.

TRANSFER WINDOW IS CRAZY

So the new toy on the block or Manchester city failed in its attempt to lure Kaka to Manchester. According to information coming out of both camps, the blame for the collapse is in the other camp. Man city said that Milan bottled it, while Milan said that Man city needed to learn how to play in the big leagues.

Personally, I believe that Kaka heard that Craig Bellamy was moving and decided not to play with the unstable welsh star.

Arsenal has put all their eggs in the Andrei Arshavin basket. Is Arshavin the answer? I don't think so. they need a defensive midfielder and this can't be overemphasised as there defence needs more protection than other normal teams. They also need decent centre backs. And a striker who can score. Nicholas Bendtner is not it and Emmanuel Adebayor is a luxury who still believes that Arsenal can win the league. Back in the day he would be locked up for heresy.

Tottenham brought back Pascal Chimbonda? Why. Is Harry Redknapp losing it because he now has money to spend. I wish for the days when he could wheel and deal. It has also affected his man management skills. His comments about Darren Bent are true but not something he needed to say to his £16million striker.
